My name is Megan Wright and I am a Elite Youth triathlete. I am 15 years old and a part of the South West Regional Academy Squad.
I compete in the National Super Series which include races like Llanelli Triathlon, Blenheim Palace Triathlon, Leeds ITU, Eton Dorney Triathlon and the U20s Triathlon festival. I also race in local events like Bowood House Triathlon and Oldbury Triathlon for more practise and experience to improve my performance in my most important races.
Last year I finished 26th in the Youth category in the National Super series. The Llanelli Triathlon 2018 was my first national open water triathlon, it was an amazing experience and being a first-year youth at the time, I competed very well however gave me lots to improve on for the future.
In terms of training, I use training peaks to record what I do, and my coach Chris Maxwell sets my training schedule for the week. I swim at least 6 days a week with Chippenham ASC and South West Swim Smooth, I run 3 times with at least a long run, speed session and long rep session each week and I do a turbo session and a long ride every week as well as strength and conditioning sessions 2-3 times a week.
My goals for the 2019 season are to finish in the top 15 at the British Triathlon Performance Assessment putting me in a high ranking for the rest of the national races which I am aiming to finish at least top 15 in as well.
